Geo-fencing — Track anyone from anywhere.

Scope of Geo-fence in HR

What is Geo-fencing?
Geo-fencing is a location-based software feature that allows the user to set up virtual boundaries. It triggers an action — notification, security alerts, etc when a device enters into a set location. Businesses have started exploring ways to use geofencing in different departments.
Feel like imagining where this technology can be used?

Geo-fencing helps businesses to market their products to a specific audience within a targeted boundary, to regulate public transport, to engage the crowd at concert talks, festivals, and fairs, etc, to monitor employees working off-site, and to bring more security, etc.

How Does it work?
An administrator creates an invisible boundary around using GPS or RFID — enabled software. It authorizes the admin to select a location and define a perimeter around that location. It triggers a predefined action when an RFID-enabled device will enter or exit that location.

Is Geofence restricted to a certain perimeter?
Well, a geofence can be of any shape or size, but if you are exploring it for marketing purposes, anything larger will reduce relevancy in messaging.

A real-world case study:
Taco Bell’s Happy Hour Campaign promoted their outlets in the best ways. The consumer received a proximity alert when he got close to a Taco Bell location.

Scope of Geofence in HR

Problem 1. Imagine yourself managing a team of 100 people working at different geographies/sites, and you got busy in a meeting. How would you track their check-in/out and lunch breaks? Even the bigger challenge is, how would you know where those employees are at the time of check-in/out?

Problem 2. Your sales Executive working in the field, reported you 6 sales visit in a day. Is there any chance that you will know he actually visited those six clients? And Management will question your teams’ productivity.

Solution: Yes, Geofencing is the answer to all the above problems. Let’s see how Geo-fencing will help:

1. Simple check-in/out: Geofencing identifies employees who checked in and out outside the boundaries.
2. Supervisor/ administrator will get a notification alert if any employee is trying to mark attendance outside the fence.
3. Boundless Geofence: No such number is defined to create the geofence. An unlimited number of locations can be geo-fenced.
4. Accurate time tracking: Geofencing has been proved the best feature because of both accuracies in time and location. You can set up locations and assign people under those locations. Now you can complete your own tasks peacefully.
5. Customized Reports: Attendance reports of all the employees can be downloaded in a click, that too, in your desired format. It will also save your time in organizing timesheets.
6. Who checked in? : While marking the attendance, the geofencing system will ask for face recognition or fingerprint to make sure that the employee, itself is present at that location. My colleague or friend cannot check in on my behalf.
7. Integration of payroll: Another great benefit of Geofencing, is that payroll and expenses are integrated with attendance. All the payroll activities will be automated, all you have to do is review and run.
